The Fred again Latin Mafia mixtape is about to be made in front of everyone. The British producer and the Mexico City trio announced on Monday that they will livestream the entire creation of their joint project from Mexico City, and the broadcast will not stop until the music is finished and released. The stream goes live on Fred’s official YouTube channel on Tuesday, July 28 at 1pm Mexico City time.
A Stream With No End Date
The concept is as radical as it sounds. Under the title “making a mixtape with latin mafia and staying here until we finish it,” the livestream will run continuously while the two acts write, record and produce in real time. There is no scheduled finale: the camera only switches off once the mixtape is complete and out in the world, a format Billboard describes as a production marathon with no safety net.
According to the announcement, the collaborators have been trading ideas for roughly two years and decided to meet in Mexico City to finally close the project. The partnership between the Fred again camp and LATIN MAFIA first exploded into public view in December 2025, when the trio joined Fred on stage during the Mexico City stop of his USB002 tour. That run, which covered ten cities in ten weeks with a new release attached to each show, ended up documented in a continuous 108 hour mix and later in the Behind The Sound documentary that arrived on YouTube earlier this month.
Mexico City was widely regarded as one of the emotional peaks of that tour, and the chemistry between the two acts on stage made a deeper collaboration feel inevitable. The new mixtape stream turns that chemistry into a full project, built in the same city where it started.
The under the fabric Film Set the Stage
The announcement lands one day after the release of under the fabric (Mexico City, 11th December 2025), a 35 minute film documenting a spontaneous session the two acts recorded beneath a fabric installation by Dutch visual artist Boris Acket, in the hours before their December show. The film, previewed for fans at Cine Tonalá in Mexico City before hitting YouTube, shows the pair working through unreleased music in real time and now reads as a direct prologue to this week’s livestream.
Who Are LATIN MAFIA
LATIN MAFIA are three brothers from Mexico City: twins Milton and Emilio de la Rosa on vocals and their older brother Mike de la Rosa on production. Their 2024 debut album TODOS LOS DÍAS TODO EL DÍA earned praise from Rolling Stone, Billboard, NPR and The FADER, and the group picked up a Latin Grammy nomination for Best New Artist that same year.
