The new Fred again documentary is finally here, and it costs nothing to watch. Behind The Sound, directed by Mexican filmmaker and YouTuber Gawx, premiered on July 14 on Fred again..’s official YouTube channel. The 20 minute film follows the British producer through the final stretch of his USB002 tour, building up to the massive closing show in Mexico City alongside Latin Mafia.
The final night of the USB002 tour
USB002 ran for 21 dates across 10 cities, and it all came down to one night: Expo Santa Fe in Mexico City on December 12, 2025. That show is the heart of Behind The Sound. Gawx follows Fred and his team as they land in the city, build the production from the ground up and finally step on stage in front of one of the loudest crowds of the entire run.
This is not a concert film. Most of its running time lives in the small moments: soundchecks, hotel rooms, rides between venues, and the tension that builds before the first kick drum drops. It plays as a portrait of how electronic music brings people together, told from inside the storm rather than from the barricade.

Who is Gawx, the filmmaker behind the camera
Gawx is a filmmaker and YouTuber based in Mexico, known for fast paced and deeply personal visual essays that have earned him millions of followers. Fred again.. celebrated the release on his Instagram stories, saying he was honoured that Gawx made the film and noting that “he followed me and the latin mafia guys for that week”. He called the result an incredible document of that time and encouraged fans to dig into the rest of the filmmaker’s work.
The choice says a lot about how Fred operates. Instead of a polished label production, he handed the story to a young Mexican creator who understood exactly what that week meant for local fans, according to DJ Mag.
The Latin Mafia connection
Latin Mafia, the trio of brothers formed by twins Milton and Emilio de la Rosa on vocals and Mike de la Rosa on production, joined Fred again.. for the Mexico City finale. The band has become one of the most exciting stories in Mexican music: they released their debut album Todos los días todo el día in October 2024 and have since picked up Latin Grammy nominations while selling out rooms far beyond Mexico.
Their chemistry with Fred sits at the center of the film, and it has fans asking the obvious question: when does the collaboration actually drop? After watching the two camps share a stage and a week of rehearsals, a studio session feels like the natural next chapter.
What is next for Fred again..
The USB002 story did not end in Mexico. The tour extended into residency runs in New York and London earlier this year, where Fred played back to back with Thomas Bangalter of Daft Punk, Skrillex, Four Tet, Floating Points and more. Last month he announced his first ever shows in India, and he recently soundtracked the Dior menswear show at Paris Fashion Week with unreleased music.
Behind The Sound is also the second film about the tour to arrive this year. In May, Sydney based creator Derrick Gee released a documentary following 24 hours of the USB002 machine in Vancouver, proof that this tour generated stories faster than anyone could film them.

Twenty minutes is all it asks. For anyone who followed USB002 from afar, this is the closest thing to having been in that room in Mexico City.
