Bateleur Festival returned to Elounda, Crete, from 22 to 25 October 2026 for a sold-out fourth edition, and it once again made the case for doing less, better. Just 500 guests spent four days at a five-star resort on the Mediterranean, moving between poolside house sessions, open-air dancefloors and a wellness programme that ran almost as deep as the lineup.

With Dennis Ferrer headlining alongside Miguelle & Tons, Rafael and OMRI., more than 20 artists and over 20 workshops shared the bill. The result felt less like a festival and more like a long weekend with a few hundred friends who all happen to love house music.

A Quiet Corner of Crete

The setting does a lot of the work. Elounda sits on the northeastern coast of Crete, ringed by rugged hills and clear water, with views across Mirabello Bay towards the Spinalonga peninsula. As the afternoon light softened, the resort’s outdoor spaces turned into natural gathering points, dressed with wooden structures, greenery and bohemian staging that kept the look relaxed and understated.

The poolside areas encouraged guests to drift between dancing, socialising and simply taking in the view. The crowd was friendly and easy to talk to, and the small capacity meant the weekend played out like a shared gathering rather than a conventional festival. Daytime pool sessions rolled into evening performances, with the sun dropping behind the hills as the backdrop.

House Music in Its Many Forms

Musically, Bateleur stayed close to house. Across four days the sound moved through rolling grooves, soulful cuts, Latin-influenced rhythms and more melodic selections, with Miguelle & Tons, Rafael, OMRI. and a wider roster of international and regional artists filling out the schedule. The focus stayed firmly on the dancefloor without losing the event’s easygoing character.

Dennis Ferrer’s Headline Set: 5 Track IDs

Ferrer’s headline set was the musical high point of the weekend. The New York house veteran leaned into the genre’s soulful foundations, balancing groove-led selections with percussion-heavy rhythms and plenty of uplifting energy. These five IDs capture the warmth and dancefloor focus that defined his performance.

1. DJ Chus & David Penn – Baila (Dennis Ferrer Bergentine Mix)

Ferrer’s own remix pushes the percussion to the front, setting Latin-inflected house rhythms against a groove built for the dancefloor.

2. Brian Tappert – The Organ Track (The House Mix)

Organ-led house with a classic club sensibility, drawing on the soulful instrumentation and steady rhythmic drive of OG house music.

3. Kolombo – In This House

A club-focused selection from the Belgian producer, built on a loopy vocal and choppy drums.

4. Azee Project – Respect

Loud and proud, with a big gospel vocal and loose-limbed percussion. One of the most playful moments of the set.

5. Samo – Straight On (Angelo Ferreri Sweet Groove Mix)

Angelo Ferreri’s remix adds hand claps, Balearic chords and a sunny, soul-rich feel that suited the Cretan setting perfectly.

Beyond the Dancefloor

Music was only half of the programme. More than 20 workshops ran across the weekend, from yoga on the terrace to sound healing and ice baths, giving guests a reason to step away from the decks and recharge. That mix of music and wellness is central to Bateleur’s identity, and it sets a slower pace between performances that lets you actually catch your breath.

The Verdict

By pairing a limited audience with a resort setting and a programme that goes well beyond the music, Bateleur has set a new high-water mark for the destination festival format. Its fourth edition showed how a carefully scaled event can leave a different kind of mark, the kind you carry home long after the last record.
