The JEWEL Nightclub closing is official. MGM Resorts International has confirmed that the two level club inside ARIA Resort & Casino will shut for good after business on Saturday, November 21, 2026, ending a run of roughly ten years on the Las Vegas Strip. The final night lands on Las Vegas Grand Prix weekend, and ARIA says there are no immediate plans for the space.

No official reason has been given. For a city that sold the world on the megaclub, losing one of its flagship rooms with less than three weeks of notice says a lot about where Las Vegas nightlife is heading.

What we know about the JEWEL Nightclub closing

The announcement came through an MGM Resorts release first reported by FOX5 Las Vegas and KLAS 8 News Now on November 2. The core facts line up across every outlet that has covered it:

  • Last night: Saturday, November 21, 2026
  • Operator: Tao Group Hospitality, which reached the decision with MGM by mutual agreement, according to Gambling News
  • Future of the space: no immediate plans announced
  • Closing weekend: the club’s own listings show Murphi Kennedy on November 20 and Kid Conrad on November 21

ARIA is pointing guests to its remaining bars: Easy’s Cocktail Lounge, Lift Bar and Alibi Cocktail Social, which is set to open on November 13. MGM has also steered nightlife traffic toward Marquee at The Cosmopolitan, which is unaffected.

A decade of LED ribbons and bottle service

JEWEL opened on May 19, 2016, in the room that previously housed Haze, ARIA’s first nightclub, which operated from 2009 until it closed in 2014. Hakkasan Group launched the venue with Jamie Foxx hosting opening night alongside The Chainsmokers, Lil Jon and DJ Irie.

The design was the pitch. Roughly 24,000 square feet over two floors, a capacity of around 1,925, five themed VIP suites looking down on the dancefloor and more than 1,400 square feet of LED ribbons wrapped through a domed ceiling. Behind the booth sat the Dreamwall, a production wall of double sided LED screens built to sync the visuals with the DJ.

Over the years the room hosted Drake, Usher, Steve Aoki and The Chainsmokers, plus championship parties for the Las Vegas Aces and the Golden State Warriors. Ownership shifted underneath it: Tao Group absorbed Hakkasan Group in 2021, and Mohari Hospitality acquired Tao in 2023.

Why it matters for Las Vegas nightlife

Neither MGM nor Tao has explained the decision, so any reason beyond the business case is speculation. What is on the record points to a room that had been scaled back. Vital Vegas reported that JEWEL was down to two nights a week, although the club’s own website still lists Friday, Saturday and Monday hours, so the exact schedule in its final months is unclear.

A senior executive who spoke to Vital Vegas without being named framed the call as opportunity cost: less a verdict that JEWEL was failing, more a belief that the square footage could earn more as something else. That reading fits ARIA’s recent moves, which lean toward cocktail lounges and smaller rooms rather than another 2,000 capacity club.

The broader numbers explain the caution. Las Vegas visitation through September 2026 is down 0.1% year to date according to LVCVA figures reported by FOX5, a flat result that follows a rough 2025 for tourism. Meanwhile lounges, speakeasies and dining venues with DJs keep pulling spend away from the traditional table service club. We looked at the same pressure earlier this year in our report on the city’s free nightclub entry offer for new 21 year olds, a promotion that listed JEWEL among its participating venues.

The industry impact

For DJs, one fewer major Strip room means fewer residency slots in a market that already concentrates bookings in a handful of venues. Tao still operates OMNIA, Marquee and TAO in the city, so the company keeps a large footprint on the Strip even as it gives up this room.

It is also the second time ARIA has walked away from a big club. When Haze closed in 2014 it was reportedly still generating between $25 million and $30 million a year, and the resort replaced it anyway. That history is why few observers are ruling out a future nightlife concept, even if nothing is announced.

What happens next

JEWEL keeps its regular weekend calendar through mid November before the Grand Prix finale. After November 21 the room goes dark with no announced replacement. Fans who want one last night inside the dome have three weekends left. As other institutions rethink their spaces, from Ministry of Sound selling its famous sound system to Las Vegas trimming its club count, the model built in the 2010s is clearly being renegotiated.
