Massive Ecstasy Bust at Ibiza Airport: 22-Year-Old Caught with 163,000 Pills

Spanish authorities arrested a 22-year-old Dutch man at Ibiza Airport after discovering approximately 163,000 ecstasy pills in his luggage. The suspect arrived on a flight from the Netherlands, carrying two large suitcases filled with around 50 kilograms of bright pink pills, some labeled as 2CB, a synthetic psychoactive substance.

The National Police’s UDYCO Group, in coordination with airport officers, intercepted the man upon his arrival. Authorities became suspicious due to the weight and size of his luggage. The pills were not concealed, drawing immediate attention.

Estimated Street Value

The street value of the seized drugs is estimated between €1.3 million and €3 million, based on average sale prices in Ibiza.

Broader Context

The suspect faces charges of drug trafficking, with potential imprisonment ranging from three to nine years, depending on the outcome of the ongoing investigation.

This incident underscores the persistent challenges authorities face in combating drug trafficking in popular tourist destinations like Ibiza. Last year, Spanish police seized over one million ecstasy pills in what was described as the largest synthetic drug bust in the country’s history.
