Daft Punk are the latest artists to join Fortnite, with a new in-game mode called the Daft Punk Experience launching on Saturday, September 27th at 2 PM ET. The experience brings 31 songs from across the duo’s catalogue into the popular online game.
Fortnite’s “Biggest Musical Experience”
Billed as Fortnite’s “biggest musical experience” to date, the Daft Punk Experience allows players to remix and edit tracks, create LEGO®-style music videos of Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, and dance at the Daft Club, a virtual venue that streams footage from the duo’s Alive tour and 2007 live album.
Interactive Game Worlds
Inside the Daft Punk Experience, players can explore themed environments tied to the group’s music. These include Dream Chamber Studios for remixing tracks, the Robot Rock Arena where players battle robots with soundwave lasers, Around the World for creating LEGO® music videos, and the Daft Club for full-scale dance parties.
Exclusive Items and Design
A Daft Punk Bundle will also be available in the Fortnite Shop. It features TB3 and GM08 helmets, outfits, instruments, accessories, and a “Get Lucky” Jam Track. In addition, players will discover virtual furniture designed by long-time Daft Punk collaborator Cédric Hervet of Hervet Manufacturier.
Honoring the Duo’s Legacy
The immersive experience kicks off with a supercut of Daft Punk’s Alive tour and the Alive 2007 album, celebrating the duo’s impact on electronic music. The project is described as a “retro-futuristic realm” that honors their legacy and gives players the chance to engage with their music in new ways.
Part of Fortnite’s Musical Expansions
Daft Punk join a growing list of major artists to collaborate with Fortnite, including The Weeknd, Travis Scott, Metallica, Ariana Grande, and Eminem. The Weeknd also teased the new Daft Punk Experience on Instagram, hinting that he may appear as a special guest.
Accessing the Daft Punk Experience
The Daft Punk Experience will be available in Fortnite’s Discover tab starting September 27th at 2 PM ET. The collaboration marks the first time an electronic music duo has been given a full immersive game mode within Fortnite.
