London nightclub Ministry Of Sound will temporarily close its main room, The Box, for a large-scale refurbishment. The renovation includes replacing the existing Martin Audio sound system and lowering the DJ booth into the dance floor.
New Sound System Installation
The venue will retire its long-running Martin Audio rig and replace it with a custom four-point KV2 system. The new configuration uses KV2 SL412 tops, paired with VHD2.21 and VHD2.16 subwoofers.
Structural and Capacity Changes
The layout of The Box will be redesigned. The DJ booth will be lowered into the dance floor and rebuilt as a modular structure, capable of supporting formats such as 360-degree setups. A new elevated backstage area will surround the booth, and overall venue capacity will increase by around 200 people.
Visual Redesign by Lucid Creates
The room’s visual overhaul will be handled by UK studio Lucid Creates. The redesign includes a large overhead lighting structure combining LED bars, video screens and reflective metal frameworks, preserving the room’s industrial aesthetic while expanding its lighting and video capabilities.
Anniversary and Reopening Plans
Ministry Of Sound will celebrate its 35-year anniversary in 2026. The venue has scheduled reopening parties for January 30th and 31st, featuring artists such as Lauren Lo Sung, Pete Tong b2b Kölsch, Moeaike and P.O.U, marking the first performances in the redesigned main room after refurbishment.

“The Box has always set benchmarks, particularly around sound. This renovation allows us to reset that standard for the next generation to continue evolving the space without losing its identity.”
