Three Artists Have Cancelled Their Scheduled ADE Events This Week Following Controversy

Three parties scheduled to take place this week at The Loft, a venue in Amsterdam’s A’DAM Tower, have been cancelled ahead of Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE). The events, featuring Life and Death, Ogazón, and Octo Octa b2b ISAbella, were planned to run from October 23rd to 25th, but were called off at the last minute.

Venue Issues Statement

The Loft issued a statement via Instagram Stories explaining the decision. “Footage from a private event held at our venue has circulated online,” the statement read. “We want to make clear that we had no involvement whatsoever in the content or organisation of that event. We acknowledge the concerns that have been raised and have since strengthened our internal procedures for screening private events to ensure that all activities held at The Loft are consistent with our values and policies.”

Earlier Private Events at the Venue

According to Dutch outlet 3voor12, the footage referenced by The Loft was from two private events held earlier this year, in March and May, under the name We Will Dance Again. The gatherings were organised by Maccabi Netherlands, and, according to a spokesperson cited by Het Parool, were “a celebration for Jewish youth.”

Footage shared on social media showed attendees waving Israeli flags, which sparked criticism from some groups including Rolling For Liberation and Ravers For Palestine, who shared joint posts referencing the events.

Impact on ADE Programming

Following the circulation of the footage and the subsequent response, Life and Death and Ogazón confirmed the cancellation of their scheduled ADE parties at The Loft. The venue has since implemented stricter screening procedures for private and public events.

Other Events Continue as Planned

While the three events were cancelled, other ADE shows at The Loft, including performances by Honey Dijon, Mau P, and Andrea Oliva, are continuing as scheduled. The Loft remains one of the city’s most prominent spaces for dance music events, located on the 16th floor of the A’DAM Tower in Amsterdam Noord.
